Since being founded in 2003, the Adamas Quartet has won prizes in various competitions, including the 1st prize and the Special Prize for the Best Schubert Interpretation at the International Schubert Competition in Ruse (2009), 1st prize and a special prize at the international competition for “Verfemte Musik” (forbidden music) in Schwerin, Germany (2012), the Polish Music Prize at the mdw’s International Summer Academy (2009), and an award at the Josef Windisch Competition in Vienna (2009). In October 2013, the quartet won the Jeunesse MehrWERT Prize of Erste Bank and also released its debut CD. This recording received several honours of its own, such as “CD of the Week” and a Pasticcio Prize from Austrian cultural broadcaster Ö1, “Star of the Month” from the magazine Die Bühne, and a “Diapason découverte” from the French magazine Diapason. Their second CD was released in August 2016. The Adamas Quartet places a special focus on composers of so called “degenerate music”, music that was denounced and banned by the Hitler regime. The quartet studies with Prof. Johannes Meissl at the mdw.
