The Motus Quartet was founded in Vienna in 2022 and consists of Tim de Vries, Karla Kri?, Erin Pitts and Domonkos Hartmann. The ensemble studies with Johannes Meissl at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. It has received formative artistic impulses from, among others, György Kurtág, Oliver Wille, Valentin Erben and Gregor Sigl.
In 2026, the Motus Quartet won First Prize as well as four special prizes at the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition. In 2025, it had already won First Prize and a special prize at the Joseph Joachim Chamber Music Competition in Weimar. Recently, the ensemble was awarded the Jürgen Ponto Foundation Music Prize, endowed with ?60,000.
The quartet is a member of the ECMA. Its concert engagements have taken it around the world. The upcoming season includes numerous concerts in Japan, a tour for the Honolulu Chamber Music Series, as well as performances in New York, Washington, D.C. and Ottawa. The ensemble will also make debuts at the Ludwigsburg Festival, the Schumannfest of Tonhalle Düsseldorf and the Herbstgold Festival in Eisenstadt.
